Most kids love when the school bell rings on Friday. But some kids aren't excited—they're anxious. For these, it means hunger until school begins again on Monday. Many students quietly rely on the meals they receive at school during the week. Over the weekend, not all families can afford to put food on the table. Parents and caregivers will often go without food to ensure their kids have enough to eat, shielding them from hunger as much as possible. But new United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) reporting has shown us that right now, 13 million children in homes across the country aren't getting enough food.
During the week, many of these children get meals through programs like the National School Lunch Program, but on the weekends and school breaks, they need our help. This is where the Snack Sacks contribute toward local need in school-age children. It's guaranteed to fill your cup as you fill theirs in love.
O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a house for your holy name comes from your hand and is all your own.
