Ephesians 2:10 (NLV)
We know that Soli Deo gloria, Latin for Glory to God alone, has been used by artists like Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, and Christoph Graupner to signify that the work was produced for the sake of praising God.
Led by Master Potter, Elizabeth Ringus, The Jeremiah 18 Pottery Project at the Allendale Correctional Institute incorporates a teaching curriculum of math, science, & social studies within the discipline of pottery for a 4-month apprenticeship program.
Artisan, Porter Claytor has led inspired service across mediums from metalworking in restoring the century-old steeple to carved reclaimed wood crosses, pastoral portraiture, photography, textiles and now a special gift crafted to bless the Church Restoration Fund through a commemorative coin design.
How is God calling you to use your gifts in art, design, photography, textiles, woodworking, metalworking, pottery, floral design, culinary art, interior design, sculpture, digital design or music? 2 Chronicles 2:7-14 (NLT)
Having a place to worship as a congregation for Holy Apostles is over a century-old with a history that began with its founding in 1848. Construction of the sanctuary was completed in 1857. The church survived the fires of the Civil War and has lived on through a myriad of storms. Now in desperate need of repair, artist Porter Claytor has been inspired to create a special commemorative coin.
The coin face includes the Jerusalem Cross where the large cross in the center represents the authority of Christ commissioning us all to share the Gospel story with all. The four smaller crosses represent the Gospel reaching to the four corners of the earth. References to faith, hope and love abide, are included from 1 Corinthians 13:13 'where the greatest of these is love."
A symbol for Christo, or "to Christ", a Greek Chi Rho has been designed into the other face of the coin. Also on this face are the Greek letters, Alpha and Omega, referencing the Lord's sovereignty, "And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life." Revelation 21:6
The coin also includes Christ's last words on the Cross, tetelestai, "It is Finished", as referenced in John 19:30. In this same time in history, "tetelestai" was used on business documents or receipts to indicate a bill had been paid in full. To John’s Greek-speaking readership, "tetelestai" would have been unmistakably clear; Jesus had died to pay for their sins.
O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a house for your holy name comes from your hand and is all your own.
